Joell Murney-Karsten

Joell Murney-Karsten is in her third term (7th year) on the Seneca Falls Board of Education, is finishing her third year as the Board Chair of the Seneca Falls Development Corporation (SFDC), and is the lead for the Seneca Falls 2020 Year-Long Celebration honoring the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment. In addition, Joell sits on the Seneca Falls Historical Society Board, Seneca Falls School District Steering Committee and its School-Community Connections Committee.
Joell returned to Seneca Falls in 2009 after living in the Boston area for nearly 17 years where she worked on the Central Artery/Tunnel Project referred to by the locals as “The Big Dig”, and as Director of Business Development for a General Contractor specializing in high-end retail construction.
Joell has a BA from the University at Albany, has taught at the high school and college levels, and attended New England School of Law. Joell graduated from Waterloo High School and comes from a long line of Finger Lakes area descendants including her father, Gary Murney who was Plant Manager for Goulds Pumps/Water Systems Division. Joell resides in Seneca Falls with her husband, Michael, an Engineer at Sessler Wrecking and their two daughters: Alyssa, 15 and Elliana, 9.
